This week's episode features Dr. Carrie Lam, MD, DABFM, ABAARM, FAAMFM. She is a board certified family medicine physician with additional certification in anti-aging, regenerative medicine and functional medicine. We discuss in this episode adrenal fatigue. She describes her journey into this field by learning from her father, Dr. Michael Lam, who has been doing nutritional telephone coaching since 2008 to help people recover from adrenal fatigue. She discusses how now we understand that stress actually affects the whole body in many different ways. She is a part of the Lam Clinic, a team of physicians and health professionals who believe in whole-person care. Dr. Lam hopes to change the future of medicine by being able to provide integrative medicine as regular medicine for all. Her advice to others is that the way to wellness is not a bandaid or narrow focus, but to get to the root cause and make sure to look at the big picture with all systems in place. She advises people to take a good listen to your body's symptoms and ask yourself why you're having the symptom and investigate the root cause. Your body has the ability to heal if given the right tools.
