137: Freeing Yourself from Anxiety with Tamar Chansky, PhD - a podcast by Non Wels
from 2020-08-03T10:00:17
On Episode 137 of You, Me, Empathy, Tamar Chansky, PhD and I explore the continuum of human feeling, reminding ourselves that we can narrate what’s going on in our lives, being a doer, anxiety in kids and the pressure to achieve, and how we can free ourselves from anxiety and worry.
In this conversation, we gab about burnout, doing for the sake of doing, the cultural and parental pressure of achievement for kids, and why grades don’t make sense in the time of Coronavirus.
Tamar is an expert on anxiety, and has written numerous books on the subject. So we talk anxiety! Lots of it. We talk about Tamar’s experience working with anxious kids, reinforcing our anxiety when we don’t make choices for ourselves, learning over performance, and the tools we can learn to free ourselves from anxiety, including fact checking our own narratives, making worry wait for us, the Four Doors exercise, and my favorite of all, The Possibility Panel!
